The Suvisesha Sevika Sangham, the women’s wing of Mar Thoma church was inaugurated in 1919, during the Maramon Convention, under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan.

Every women of the Marthoma church eighteen and older is a member of Sevika Sangham. The early growth and success of this organization was due to the contributions of one of the founding member Mrs. Kandamma Varghese, the first General Secretary. She travelled far and wide, organizing women for evangelistic work; self-sacrificing and worked tirelessly that allowed the Sevika Sangham to grow.
